Yes, we have done this too. But then, rather than
having to configure these addresses and route
entries manually, with the method that we followed, we
could enable radvd first and this would create all the
required addresses and route entries automatically.
If you enable forwarding next, then everything works great.
In fact, we believe one could have an init script that
perform these steps in this exact order to avoid any manual configuration
at the router. Pekka Savola pointed out in his mail that router
cann't be autoconfigured but I am not sure why.
