Hi,
Now and then, you could use a tool like nmap to check the ports on an ipv6
box. IPv6 support hasn't been worked on yet.
I talked with Fyodor <fyodor@xxxxxxxxxxxx> about this a bit, and he'd be
really happy to accept patches to get the support in. He has promised to
help with patching too if necessary. As he stated, "You'd be a hero! :)".
Unfortunately I don't have time for this, but if someone is interested in
a small project, this would be a good opportunity.
In order to get the porting into sane proportions, I'd suggest the
following scope restrictions:
- only tcp connect scan (the default, does not need raw sockets; udp
would be nice, though).
- only one host at the time (you don't want to have nmap start scanning a
/64.. could take a while ;-)
- some other obscure options (e.g. rpc/ident) could be non-implemented
for now.
Ie. IMO the best way would probably best to implement only the basic tcp
(and maybe also udp) scanning which is very well enough for casual use.
When there's need for more, someone else would probably extend the
support.
