Hi,
I would connect the machines to an Ethernet hub.
On the linux machines, type "ifconfig -a". Hopefully, you will see
settings for eth0. If you don't, then something is wrong with the
settings for your ethernet card. You will need to go back into the
kernel and fix this problem. If you see the settings for eth0, you
should get an address next to inet6 addr:; if not, ipv6 stack is
currently not running. If the ipv6 stack is currently not running and
you build it as a module, then type the command "modprobe ipv6". Then
type "ifconfig eth0", you should get a link-local IPv6 address.
When you have an IPv6 address, you can ping the other machine by typing
"ping6 -I eth0 <IPv6 addr>".
