(usagi-users 01127) Re: Linux-PAM and IPv6 compatibility

I connected using the IPv6 address and ran netstat:

     Active Internet connections (w/o servers)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address
State
     tcp 0 0 celica-ipv6:login volare-ipv6:1023
ESTABLISHED

as well as netstat -n, to verify IPv6 addresses:

     Active Internet connections (w/o servers)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address
State
     tcp        0      0 fec0::1:202:55ff:fe:513 fec0::1:202:55ff:f:1023
ESTABLISHED

The server's /root/.rhosts file reads:
     volare <----- Maps to IPv4
     volare-ipv6
     volare-ipv6-ll

Still....prompted for password when using IPv6 address. Anyone know how to
disable PAM?

Robert,

Don't pay any attention to Jim Fleming; nobody else does.

Regarding your problem... The first thing that comes to mind is that your
client machine may not be sourcing the session from the correct IP
address. Try making an rsh or rlogin connection over IPv6 using your
password, then run netstat -n on either machine and check what the IP
address and port are on the client. Make sure that the IP address is the
same as what you put in the .rhosts file on the server, and that the
source port number is below 1024.

And I'm sure you already know this, but using SSH would be much more
secure... -Nathan
