(usagi-users 01975) Re: info about IPsec

Are you talking about using IPSec to protect mobile-ipv6? If so, then
read draft-dupont-ipsec-mipv6-01.txt. It's available from
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/ or other IETF mirrors.

Note that:
(a) this draft assumes you are familiar with IPSec, but maybe not
mobile-ipv6
(b) discusses mobile-ipv6 as defined in draft-...-mipv6-18
(c) an implementation of this draft is not out yet (unless the USAGI
team has hacked it, or received a preliminary version from HUT: have
you?).

So using IPSec and Mobile-IPv6 together is pretty academic on Linux
right now. I think the FreeBSD guys can do it though.

Note that if you are talking about being able to use IPSec and MIPL
together at the same time, for unrelated purposes, then the USAGI kernel
should allow you to do it. I have not tried to do it myself.

If for some reason, like me, you cannot use the USAGI kernel (hate to
say this on the USGAI mailing list), then you could use SWAMP
(http://www.icr.a-star.edu.sg/~parijat/swamp/). It is a combination of
the IPSec and MIPL patches. Note that the MIPL version in SWAMP is
pretty old right now.

Things are looking up though. USAGI have done a very good job of
integrating IPSec into the kernel, both for v4 and v6 (though from my
point of view I do not know how well it works). With MIPL 0.9.5 coming
out -- the firt version to be up-to-date with the current draf -- and
HUT declaring that they intend to use USAGI for IPsec support, things
should improve.
