thank you guys,
I am running Mandrake Linux ( 8.1).
So i guessed it quite right, ipv4 is tightly
integrated
in the network stack , cant be taken out presently.
So putting in 127.0.0.1 shud work on a machine with a
single net interface.
will test it today,
