Hi All,
We are developing solutions for a linux gateway. A
DHCP relay running in the gateway forwards the DHCP
requests from LAN clients to WAN and obtains IP from
the service provider. All seems to be fine till we
apply the usagi-linux24-stable_20030214-2.4.20 patch.
The dhcrelay form ISC (http://www.isc.org/) fails to
start working with the message "Can't bind to dhcp
address: Address already in Use".
[File:dhcp/common/socket.c line #145]
Upon some search found that the patch explicitly fails
a second bind on the same address.
====>
usagi-linux24-stable_20030214-2.4.20, include a
reworking of bind behaviour to dis-allow binding of
same address/port more then once, unless it is a
multicast socket.
Quote from the patch code:
yoshfuji@USAGI :Reworked bind(2) behaviour,
including:
- Allow ipv6 and ipv4 bind(2)to
the same port.
- Don't allow narrow binding
unless later uid is the same as before:
CONFIG_NET_RESTRICTED_REUSE
- Don't allow binding to the same
address unless it is one of
multi-cast address even if
SO_REUSEADDR is set.
<===
What are the advantages of having this new restriction
brought in by the patch? Can you please suggest how we
can procedd to solve the problem we have.
Kindly help.
Thanks
balan
